National Stadium is the cricket stadium situated in economical hub of the country, Karachi. It is one of the oldest stadium and the biggest one (capacity wise) in Pakistan. The construction work on it was started in early 1950s, under the command of senior civil engineer Mr. Abdul Rasheed Khan and Mr. Kafiluddin and was formally opened in April 1955.
It is built on 174.5 acres of land along with the good facilities for holding international and domestic matches. It is also famously known as ‘Karachi Stadium’. The historic final of third edition of Pakistan Super League PSL 3 2018 was also played here.
First test match was played here between Pakistan and India in March 1955.
First ODI match was played here between Pakistan and West Indies in November 1980.
First T20I match was played here between Pakistan and Bangladesh in April 2008.

The National Stadium Karachi can accommodate 34,228 spectators at the same time, the plastic seats were lately installed in the stadium after the renovation work to replace the old concrete based benches, which were uneasy to sit for hours.
The shape of the stadium is circular. The boundary length of national stadium is about 60-80 meters from center pitch. However it can be decreased or increased depending upon the type of cricket played here.
