Domestic Career

Wahab started his domestic career by playing for Lahore Lions in 2007. He played for the team till 2015. Then in 2011, he joined the Kent team to play in county championship. He was then picked by Peshawar Zalmi during the first Pakistan Super League draft. He still plays for the same franchise.

He was selected by team Kandhar during the first edition of Afghanistan Premier League 2018. In 2019, he got selected in Brampton Wolves team for Global T20 Canada tournament. Later in that year, he was named in Cape Town Blitz team for the Mzansi Super League tournament. He was also selected in Dhaka Platoon team for Bangladesh Premier League 2019–20 . In 2020, he was selected by Kandy Tuskers franchise for Lanka Premier League first edition

In 2021, Wahab was selected in St Lucia Zouks team for Caribbean Premier League 2021. Later in the same year, he was selected in Jaffna Kings for Lanka Premier League In 2022, he was then selected by Northern Superchargers for The Hundred in England 2022.

International Career

He was firstly selected in the Pakistani squad for the tri series against Bangladesh and India in 2008 where he made his ODI debut against Bangladesh. He then made his test debut against England in 2010. He was the integral part of team Pakistan during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

He was also the part of Pakistan’s squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in which his famous fierce short bowling spell against Australia in the quarter final went viral. He then played in many series and matches before the ICC Cricket World 2019 where he performed consistently and took 11 wickets in 8 games.
