Umar Akmal is an international cricketer from Pakistan who plays for national side and in different domestic and international leagues including PSL. He is considered to be a good batsman and generally bats in the middle order.

Domestic/League Career

He started his domestic career by playing for Sui Northern Gas team in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2007-08. He is an aggressive from the start as he scored 248 runs off 225 balls in his 6th first class match. He then played for Lahore Lions team from 2008 to 2015. He also played for Habib Bank Limited HBL in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2018-19 and performed well to help his team win the tournament.

Akmal also played in Pakistan Cup for Balochistan in 2016, for Punjab in 2017, for KPK in 2018 and for Balochistan in 2019. He was the leading run scorer for HBL in Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup 2018-19. Umar was an important part of the Central Punjab squad in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019-20 and was named as the man of the match in the final of the tournament.

He was selected by Lahore Qalandars in the first edition of PSL and remained the highest run scorer of the tournament. After being part of LQ team for three seasons of Pakistan Super League, he was dropped by Lahore and was picked by Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2019 and is still part of them.

He also played for different teams in Caribbean Premier League. Barbados Tridents in 2013, Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2015, and Trinbago Knight Riders in 2016.

International Career

Umar played his first test match against New Zealand in 2008 where he scored his first century. This made him the first Pakistani batsman to score his first test and ODI hundred away from home. He played his last test match against Zimbabwe in 2011 as due to his poor form he was dropped from the team after that.

Umer made his T20i and ODI debut against Sri Lanka in August 2009. He also played for Pakistan in ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2012, 2014, 2016 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. He was again dropped from the team but was later added in the series against Sri Lanka where he performed poorly.
