Sarfaraz Ahmed is an international cricketer from Pakistan who plays for the national side and also in different leagues including PSL. He is considered to be a good wicketkeeper batsman and generally bats in the middle order. He also remained the team Pakistan and lead his side to the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Domestic Career

Sarfaraz started playing his domestic cricket for team Karachi in 2005. Later he joined the Sindh team in 2006 and played for them in different tournaments till 2012. He was also the regular part of PIA squad from 2006 to 2014. He was then selected by Quetta Gladiators for the first season of Pakistan Super League and made him the captain of the side,

He was the captain of the runner up team of first two editions of PSL and in PSL 4, he led his team to the successful winning of the tournament.  He was selected as the captain of team Sindh for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019-20. He also played for Galle Gladiators in Lanka Premier League.

International Career

Sarfaraz lead Pakistan U-19 Cricket team during the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2006 win. He was firstly selected in Pakistan team during the series against India in 2007. He made his ODI debut in that series. He was then selected for Asia Cup 2008 He then made his test career debut in the match against Australia in 2010.

He was also the part of Pakistan team during 2011 for Aisa Cup, series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He became the vice captain of Pakistan team after ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Sarfaraz Ahmed became captain of the Pakistan team for the first time in a match against Zimbabwe in 2015. He was made the captain of T20 Pakistani side and in his first match, Pakistan won by 9 wickets from England. Pakistan won consecutive 11 matches under his captaincy.

He was later made captain of ODI team in 2017, his first major tournament was ICC Champions Trophy 2017, where he successfully lead his team to the trophy win. In the same year he was made test captain of the Pakistan team.

He also captained the Pakistani side in 2019 Cricket World Cup in England.
