Mohammad Rizwan is an international cricketer from Pakistan who plays for the National and domestic sides. He made his international debut in 2015. He is a right handed batter and also the primary wicket keeper for the current Pakistani side. Rizwan has many records in his pocket like the only player to score 2000+ T20i runs in a calendar year.

Domestic Career

Rizwan played for many domestic sides during his ongoing domestic career. He was in SNGPL team for the Quaid-e-Azam trophy 2014-15 and scored 224 in the final match which proved to be the match winning innings. He also played for Pakistan A as a wicketkeeper-batsman during the match against Kenya in 2015.

He was made vice captain of the Punjab’s team for the Pakistan Cup 2018. He scored his highest score of 140 in List A career against Federal Areas team. In 2019, he got selected in the Federal team for Pakistan Cup 2019.

He was named as the captain of KPK’s team for Quaid-e-Azam trophy 2019-20. Later in 2019, he was announced as the player of the tournament in National T20 Cup for his excellent performance.

In 2021, he was selected as the captain of Multan Sultans team. In the same season he lead his team to their first ever PSL title and he was also named as the best wicketkeeper of the tournament.

In December 2021, Sussex signed him to play for them in the County Championship 2022.

International Career

Muhammad Rizwan made his international ODI and T20i debut for Pakistan in a series against Bangladesh in 2015. He scored 67 off 58 deliveries on his debut ODI match. In a match against New Zealand, he made his test cricket debut which didn’t gone well as he got departed for a duck.

He was selected as the captain of team Pakistan for ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. In August 2018, he was named in the PCB’s central contract 2018-19. He scored his first ODI century against Australia in 2019.

In 2019, he was selected in the Pakistan’s series against Australia and Sri Lanka. In June 2020, he got selected in Pakistan team for the tour of England but got tested positive for COVID-19. In the next month, he got shortlisted for the Pakistan’s squad against the English team. This series proved to be a excellent one for Rizwan as he was named as the best Pakistani player during it.

In 2020 December, Mohammad Rizwan was nominated to captain the Pakistan team for the first time in a match against New Zealand as Babar Azam was injured. He was also a part of Pakistan’s T20i team for the same series.

In the series against South Africa in 2021, Rizwan was able to score his first T20i and Test match century. He was the first Pakistani wicketkeeper batsman to score century in T20i and the second after Brendon McCullum to score centuries in all three formats of the cricket.

In 2021 April, Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam made a record first wicket partnership by scoring 197. It was also the highest ever partnership for any Pakistani pair in T20i. Later he was also named in the Pakistan’s squad for ICC T20i World Cup 2021.

In 2022, he played against Australia, West Indies, New Zealand etc. He was also named in Asia Cup 2022 and ICC T20i Cricket World Cup 2022.
