Mohammad Amir is an International cricketer from Pakistan who plays national as wells as for different domestic sides in different leagues. He is considered to be a good swing and fast bowler and generally bowls in start and end overs. He can also hit the ball a long way when batting.

Domestic Career

He started playing in Pakistan’s domestic structure in 2008 for Rawalpindi Rams along with the National Bank of Pakistan NBP team. He also played for the Federal Areas team. He took 55 wickets for NBP while playing in his first domestic season. Later due to spot fixing controversy, he was forced to take long break from domestic and international cricket.

He resumed his career by playing for Chittagong Vikings team in BPL 2015. Amir then got selected by Karachi Kings during the first PSL draft and remained their part till now. In 2019 July, he got selected by Dublin Chiefs for the first season of Euro T20 Slam tournament. Later in the same year, he was selected by Khulna Tigers to play in BPL. He also played for Galle Gladiators in Lanka Premier League.

International Career

Amir’s international career has been a bumpy ride. He firstly got selected in the Pakistan team for ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2009, where he made his T20i debut against England. This tournament turned out be a good one for him as he took some of the important wickets to make his side win the T20 World Cup.

He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2009. After performing good in T20 World Cup, he got selected for the test series against Sri Lanka where he made his test cricket debut for Pakistan. He took 6 wickets in his first test match. He was initially ignored for the PCB central contract 2010 but was later added in C category.

In a match against New Zealand in 2009, he scored 73 runs while batting at number 10, which was a record then. He later took his first test match 5 wicket haul against Australia in 2010 at MCG. He was later booked in spot fixing controversy and got banned from every type of cricket.

Amir made his comeback in 2015 while playing for Omer Associates team, later he was added in Pakistan’s squad for Asia Cup and ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2016. He was then added into the Pakistan team as a frontline fast bowler for ICC Champions trophy 2017 where he performed brilliantly in the final against India and helped Pakistan win the tournament.

He also played for Pakistan in Asia Cup 2018 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Amir later announced his retirement firstly from test cricket in 2019 and then from all type of international cricket in 2020.
